Would you like to regularly swap out photos or other images on a mobile phone, iPod®, thumb drive, digital picture frame, or other storage location? Would you like it if the images had a common theme? Would you like the process to take place with as little effort on your part as possible? If you answered "yes" to these questions, Picme is here to help!
Picme imports your iPhoto® keywords so you can create and save lists that it bases its image file searches on. Without opening iPhoto, it picks up to three keywords from a list that you specify, then selects three images that were tagged with them and prepares copies to be transferred to a location of your choice. Image copies can be transferred via a computer's Bluetooth® wireless technology or any other method that is accessible through Finder™ (e.g. USB). By using the same image copy names from search to search, the destination's copies are replaced instead of cluttering storage space.*
Picme has a simple, scriptable interface that is designed to automate the selection and copying of images as highly as possible. In trial mode one of the copied images will always be an image that says that the copy of Picme used was in trial mode. Also, in trial mode only two keyword lists are allowed.
Here are some additional ideas for using Picme:
- Configure a screensaver, cell phone wallpaper or desktop picture to use the images in the folder that Picme copies to.
- Schedule an iCal® event to launch Picme at a certain time every day.
- Post photos selected by Picme to a blog or web site to keep it dynamic.
Below is an example of a use for Picme. The software makes it easy for Algoscribe to change the slideshow images while ensuring that they always have at least one keyword in common.
*Some devices may rename a file if it is copied to a location that already has a file with the the same name. This behavior can vary depending on the method used to copy the file. For example, such renaming may take place for files copied via Bluetooth, but not for files copied via USB. In these cases, consider using synchronization software in conjunction with Picme to achieve the desired result.
